"I'd like you to meet an acquaintance of mine. He goes by the name Primeval. Be careful, he's not as friendly as the other contestants have been!"
Calypso, Twisted Metal III

Primeval makes its first and only appearance in Twisted Metal III, serving as the final boss of the game in Calypso's Blimp.

Twisted Metal III[]

Vehicle[]

"He is highly maneuverable, his special weapon is incredibly powerful and he has access to all special weapons in the game. Primeval's vehicle surrounds him with a roll cage so he's also not afraid to take a tumble."
—Twisted Metal III - Instruction Manual

Primeval is an unplayable character without means of a cheating device such as a GameShark. The GameShark Code to select Primeval in version 1.0 is: 800D28D0 000F; while in version 1.1 it is: 800D2CC8 000F (Note: You have to enable the "In-Game Menu" in the Settings or the game will freeze).

Special Weapon

  • Primeval: A combination of Mr. Grimm's and Roadkill's special weapons that seeks out an enemy and deals massive damage to them.

Driver[]

"Primeval is the mightiest of Calypso's demon henchmen. He is the guardian of the big guy's blimp and the boss of the level."
—Twisted Metal III - Instruction Manual

He is the Boss of The Final Battle, and is fought after the player takes out Calypso's Regenerator engine and destroying all enemies there.

Although there is no clear artwork of him, he appears to be a large, pale, shirtless man with a bald head and a horn protruding from the back of it and with apparently red eyes.

Trivia[]

  • Primeval's name is either derived from the term "Prime Evil," a reference to the word "Primeval" as an allusion stating that he is the oldest living demon from Hell, or both.
  • The TMIII instruction manual states that Primeval has access to all Special Weapons in the game. However, this does not actually happen in-game.
  • The TMIII manual tries to explain why Primeval has no picture in-game: "Photo not available. Primeval was busy tormenting souls when photos were taken."
  • Although Primeval is not playable normally and does not have its vehicle info menu, during gameplay it is possible to notice that its handling, armor, special weapon and speed are maxed out.
  • The November 1998 issue of the EGM magazine mentions that the boss of Twisted Metal III is named "Head Hunter". This is a possible early name for Primeval, if it was still the final boss back then.[1]
