Roadkill is a vehicle that appears in almost every Twisted Metal video game, except Twisted Metal 4 and Twisted Metal: Small Brawl. In every game thus far, it is a junk muscle/pony car built from scraps of metal. It is usually well-balanced with an innovative Special Weapon.

Twisted Metal (1995)[]

"Pieced together from many junkyard hulks, ROADKILL is a heavily armored demolition derby on wheels."
—Twisted Metal - Road Kill's Bio

Road Kill makes its debut in Twisted Metal, the original game in the series.

Special Weapon

  • Steel Dagger: A giant rod of rusty metal fired at 100 mph... a metal javelin that destroys whatever it hits!

Twisted Metal 2[]

Roadkill returns in Twisted Metal 2, now colored orange and driven by different character with a familiar last name.

Special Weapon

  • Boomerang Blast: A Boomerang Missile that curves back towards your car. If you strike an enemy while the boomerang is returning, its destructive power increases three-fold. Because it is a quick-firing weapon, you must learn to control your car's speed while aiming.

Twisted Metal III[]

"Marcus is a deranged homeless guy who drives an old clunker he slapped together from junkyard scraps."
—Twisted Metal III - Instruction Manual

Roadkill returns in Twisted Metal III, with the same character but a different looking vehicle.

Special Weapon

  • Spike Bomb: A nasty little tool that arcs out from his car and hits home with frightening impact.

Twisted Metal: Black[]

"Roadkill's creation is as mysterious as its driver. John Doe only knows that Roadkill is his to drive and that it is equipped to win."
—Twisted Metal: Black - Instruction Manual

Roadkill returns in Twisted Metal: Black.

Special Weapon

  • Charger Missiles: For its Special Attack, Roadkill fires a series of missiles. The longer the Fire Weapon button [default: L2] is depressed the more missiles will be fired in a single volley. Watch as the missile indicators light up one after the other. Once it is fully charged, the lights will flash, indicating that it is charged for maximum damage. Make sure to fire it right away. Holding onto the charge too long will backfire, resulting in a lost special.

Twisted Metal: Head-On[]

Roadkill's appearance in Twisted Metal: Head-On.

Special Weapons

  • Boomerang Blast: A Boomerang Missile that curves back towards your car if you press the fire button again. If you strike an enemy while the boomerang is returning, it will do more damage. If you call the boomerang back without hitting anyone, you'll be able to use it again.
  • Mega Boomerang Blast: After receiving the Special Weapon upgrade, it's possible to charge up the special. Charging it all the way and letting go of the button will make it deal more damage.

Twisted Metal: Lost[]

The Roadkill used in Twisted Metal: Lost. It's the same vehicle from Black.

Special Weapon

  • Charger Missiles: Same as in Black.

Twisted Metal (2012)[]

Roadkill returns in Twisted Metal (2012) with good all-around speed and handling but fairly low armor. Once again, it resembles a junk muscle car, though it looks cleaner compared to past renditions. Roadkill is unlocked after beating the desert race in Diablo Pass during Needles Kane's portion of the story.

Special Weapons (55 pts.)

  • Chain Gun: Its primary special weapon is the Chain Gun, similar to Death Warrant's. However, Roadkill's version can be charged up to inflict slightly more damage.
  • Blood Missiles / Drop Mines (when pressing down on d-pad): Its secondary special is also similar to Death Warrant's, except Roadkill's can be charged up to level three to fire a volley of blood missiles. In addition, when Roadkill's primary special weapon is fired backwards, four Drop Mines are released out of the trunk.

Twisted Metal TV Series[]

Roadkill makes an appearance in the 2023 TV series by Peacock, as John Doe and Quiet's second car.

It was originally the vehicle of Mark, a member of the Vultures. It was then stolen by Quiet, and completely modified by John Doe and her. Quiet was also the one who named it "Roadkill".

Trivia[]

General[]

  • Roadkill was scheduled to be in Twisted Metal: Harbor City, having a similar design from the Twisted Metal: Black version but with some minor alterations.

Twisted Metal (1995)[]

  • Road Kill's TM(1995) ending says two high school kids found it abandoned in a dirt field and stole to enter the next contest. However, in Twisted Metal 2, the car was driven by Marcus Kane instead.
  • Road Kill's license plate (TYMTRPR) means "Time Trooper", a reference to Captain Spears' ending.
  • Some files related to Road Kill refer to it as "Mad Max", which seems to be the inspiration for it.

Twisted Metal 2[]

  • Roadkill's license plate (WAYKUP) means "Wake Up", a reference to Marcus Kane's ending.

Twisted Metal: Black[]

  • In the character selection screen, Mr. Grimm can be seen in the background of the scene with Roadkill.
  • Also in the character selection screen, one of the transitional FMVs for Roadkill show a bus on the background, while the other only shows wheels with the bus missing.

Twisted Metal: Small Brawl[]

  • In TM:SB, in Gridiron Gore, there is a sign that says: Roadkill 24 Tsunami 0. This might be a possible reference to Roadkill.

Twisted Metal (2012)[]

  • Its license plate in Twisted Metal (2012) reads "FRG FST" (Frag Fest, a gaming term that refers to the killing of many enemies).
    • When damaged, the plate reads "BDY BAG" (Body Bag).
  • In TM(2012), Roadkill is the only vehicle available for use when facing The Brothers Grimm and also the only vehicle that can be used in all events of the storyline once unlocked.
  • In Twisted Metal (2012), Roadkill is modeled after a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS, especially in the rear pillar, quarters, and fascia. The body, however, lacks the heavy creases of the 1969 Camaro, looking more like that of the 1967 model. The grille resembles that of a Ford Mustang.
