Trivia[]

  • It is implied that he died in Twisted Metal (1995), as he has not reappeared in other games.
  • The actor portraying Captain Spears in both his Lost ending and portrait art is presented as wearing both body armor and communication equipment. The point of these is unknown.
  • Captain Spears is one of two characters who have a military rank but did not drive Warthog, the other being Mr. Grimm in Twisted Metal: Black.
  • Captain Spears is one of three characters in Twisted Metal (1995) who has a negative end result, along with Carl Roberts and Charlie Kane.
  • Captain Spears is also one of two characters who has driven Roadkill only once, the other being John Doe.
  • His backstory and ending would later inspire Agent Stone's in Black, as the latter's ending in said game is similar to Spears'. Both are men working for the government who made a mistake in the past that resulted in the accidental deaths of others and enter the contest to win and undo the mistake that both men had made. In their endings, they travel back to the time that made their mistake, but before they do, Calypso asks both men if they really want their wish and asks if they know the consequences, they both accept. But unfortunately, both men die trying to fix their mistake by an enemy.
    • Unlike Stone, who succeeded in saving the people he was sent back in time to save, Spears was unsuccessful in saving his men in the text ending.
      • However in the Lost ending, he was successful in saving them, but that was cut from the final game.
