Meat Wagon using the Sniper Rifle.

The Sniper Rifle is a pick-up weapon found in Twisted Metal (2012).

The Sniper Rifle is unique as it requires patience in order to maximize its potential. When picked up, the weapon will begin pointing at nearby vehicles. When the fire button (R2 by default) is pressed a timer will begin to count down. If the player holds this on a vehicle, different icons will begin to appear on the reticle showing the part of the vehicle being targeted. If held long enough the scope will eventually show a skull, meaning the weapon will one-shot the victim. The scope builds damage faster if an opponent is stationary, or lower on health. If the target is facing a certain way against the rifle, this timer can be skipped and instantly lead to a headshot.

If the weapon switches targets, than the timer will reset and build all over again. If the player does not fire within a certain time period, the weapon will miss.

To avoid this weapon, the player should attempt to break line of sight with the user instead of shielding, as attempting to predict when the shot will be taken will only waste ammo and time. An alternative strategy is to confront the shooter head on, and bombard them with weapons to force them to flee or prematurely fire the shot.

To effectively use this weapon, the player should attempt to find higher ground and choose a specific opponent to target.

On higher difficulties, opponents like Meat Wagon, and Vermin will constantly use snipers to deal heavy damage to the player.

Sniper Rifles are removed from the map during Juggernaut events during the campaign.
